The Passport Registration software no longer operates at this website as of February 2002. However, any Passport account you have established for searching The Birmingham News Archives will still work at the national newspaper library, www.newslibrary.com.

Please follow these steps:

1. Go to www.newslibrary.com,
2. A map of the United States will appear. Click on the state of Alabama.
3. A list of papers for that region of the US will appear - click the check box for The Birmingham News.
4. Scroll down the page and enter your search terms and click the SEARCH button.
5. When the results of your search appear, click on the articles you wish to download.
6. The registration page will appear with special instructions for "Former Passport Users" to follow. Please follow the instructions.
