Enroll your school in the NIE program To participate in The Birmingham News' Newspaper In Education program, teachers and principals can call The Birmingham News and set up a workshop to learn about using newspapers regularly in classrooms. Our NIE Coordinator will go to the school and meet with an individual teacher, the principal, or the faculty staff to give a brief presentation about the NIE program. When a NIE program is established at the school, teachers may schedule training sessions and demonstration classes to help use the newspaper most effectively in their classrooms.
